We got our patience tested, as they seemed to be sleeping forever!
But then they woke up - and the entertainment started.
It was quite a sight with all these Spoonbills, and funny to see them all pointing the same way

As always, Many thanks for taking time to view, comment and fave. Thats very much appreciated

Well., if this 'alpha-male' was anything to go by... yes!

The first group of 'Spoons' were all quite happy., that was until a second group dropped in and then the fun started!

This particular Spoon was hell-bent on establishing himself as the dominant male and he pretty much succeeded

Looking at this picture you can see why!

A fishing Spoonbill., nothing unusual there

But the thing that we liked about this shot was the look on the fishes face!

OK., fishes can't have 'looks'., and the fish cannot have any idea what's happening
But never the less there is a sort of 'resigned to my fate' expression there!

Well... Sort of...!!

Thanks for looking, comments and faves. Much appreciated!

Big., Long legged., and a crazy beak! Apparently only 4 breeding pairs in the UK.., and they are quite rare to see which made this photoshoot fun and special

They also (we noticed) spend a lot of time asleep (usually standing on one leg) when compared with similar birds such as Heron's and Egret's. I have a theory on this., That large but incredibly efficient bill means they can vacume up large quantities of fish in a relatively short space of time (compared to the Heron or Egret who have to carefully catch each fish) which leaves lots of 'downtime' for our lucky Spoon's.
I could be wrong., but that's what it looks like to me

Amazing birds., that cannot help but draw attention
