In for landing - Was lucky to spend some time with this beautiful bird

A few months ago I wrote that the kingfishers actual colour is a murky brown

Their feathers are special due to being in and out of water all the time., and the variations in the blue colour that reaches our eyes (or camera lens) is because of the way these feathers absorb and reflect the available light

This picture was taken into what light their was available., and there are hints of that murky brown
If he had moved into a brighter 'spot' all those blues would have magically looked a slightly different shade

If you happen to be a fish caught by a Kingfisher your chances of survival are., well.. virtually zero

Added to which you can anticipate a pretty violent end

Not good for the fish., but if the suns out and you crank up the shutter speed on your camera it can make for some interesting photography
