During an unusually warm November day on my NC property, intuition led me to a specific place by the water. I discovered a dozen newts swimming about (emerged from dormancy beneath leaves at the bottom.)
Warm, sunny winter days are an idyllic time for newts. All snakes and frogs are in deep hibernation and they can frolic in the water without fear.
