The Potala palace of the Dalai Lama in Lhasa ( Tibet) is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of The New Seven Wonders.
Nowadays travel agents provide small oxygen inhaling units for turists who need them. If you are in good health the trip to 12500 feet altitude won’t bother you at all. Many trees can grow at this altitude. Villagers were plowing their fields with yaks in the rocky landscape if they were not praying. Still seemed a lot of work with very little returns.

The first time I went to Tibet was before 1980. China was a real communist state and people were wearing uniforms. It was a rather depressing journey. Now everything seems to have changed and the people are much happier now.
