There were very strange wind conditions at the top of Mow Cop. At the bottom of the hill, even in the car park just behind this shot, there was just a mild breeze. However, in true Mow Cop style, as soon as I reached the top I was battered by the wind. Oddly though, it kept changing direction - as you can see at the top centre of this shot where the clouds change their direction of travel part way through this long exposure. I didn't have my usual sturdy Benbo tripod with me, just a flimsy Gorrilla Pod, so I had to manually hold it down on it's rock perch to stop it from moving about.

Taken from the stern of the ship as we left Invergordon. This is not actually a black & white shot. This was the colour of the sky and sea (with a very slight adjustment to push the silhouettes), and you can see the small splash of colour of the sand on the small spit of land at the bottom left.

The village of Portree, situated on the east side of Skye overlooking a sheltered bay, is the capital of the island.
Portree is only about 200 years old and was created as a fishing village at the beginning of the 19th century by the then Lord MacDonald. The name Portree or Port Righ, King’s Port in Gaelic, (as on the road signs) is popularly thought to derive from a visit by King James V (of Scotland) in 1540 but the area around the harbour was called Portree or Portray long before the arrival of the king. Its name really comes from the Gaelic for Port on the Slope.

Okay, I admit it, it's all my fault. I made the foolish mistake of going on holiday to Scotland.
As a direct consequence of this thoughtless decision, on the day that we left this irresponsible action caused the Great British Heatwave to grind to an immediate halt and it was replaced by several days of relentless rain.
I'm very, very sorry.
However, I managed to squeeze about half-a-dozen usable shots in between the squalls.
I promise that I will never venture to Scotland ever again :o(
