This male Northern Parula really gave us a great look for just a few seconds, I was definitely happy that I was ready for it. Northern Michigan is definitely a fun place to bird in the spring.

This Blackburnian Warbler occupied a good part of our morning while birding around Whitefish Point on our Michigan trip earlier this month. That orange and black just looks so nice that it is difficult to walk away.

The Indigo Bunting is one that we heard frequently during our visit to Michigan and regretfully we didn’t spend much time looking for. We do get a ton of them moving through SE Texas during migration and they do breed near my home so that might have curbed some of the excitement over this species in our group. Looking back on it I am glad I spent some time with this one in Ohio on the way up to meet the tour. Even if it is a common bird it is just too beautiful for me to ignore.
