'And now we lay you down to sleep
You’re finally at rest
Our love for you we’ll always keep
You were the very best
You gave us joy for all those years
A memory for each new day
Then came the day of all my fears
The day you passed away
A part of us you took with you
And I can’t stand the pain
But when this life on earth is through
I know we’ll meet again.'
Pet cemeteries are a part of our culture. Pet owners who are emotionally attached to their pets often bury them ceremonially. Walk through any pet cemetery and you can see the love and emotion on display in front of you. The many monuments and memorials are evidence of the love people have for their departed pets.
This photograph was taken at a pet cemetery in Colma, California called 'Pet's Rest'.

Photographed at "Pet's Rest", a pet cemetery in Colma, California. The cemetery is a testament to the love and affection of owners for their pets. Tiny tombstones of wood and stone dot Pet's Rest with inscriptions dedicated to the dogs, cats, birds, goldfish, hamsters, and lizards buried beneath. Tiny wooden plaques shaped like tombstones are stenciled with such sentiments as: "Skipper, the best damn dog we ever had. 1967" and "Loved, pet Stinky."
