"Hollows" are otherwise known as "tree holes".......a semi-enclosed cavity that is naturally formed on a tree trunk. They occur in old trees, irrespective of the species of tree, whether dead or living. The tree stump is a widely known feature of woodlands and natural forest trees. In most forests tree stumps are that small part of the tree trunk remaining with the roots still underground.
