This elegant Victorian house in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district was once owned by James Clair Flood (1826-1888). Flood and his partners ("Flood and O'Brien") once operated silver mines on the Comstock Lode and discovered the "Big Bonanza" in 1873. Flood also established the Bank of Nevada in San Francisco. He is considered to have been one of the 100 wealthiest Americans.
