A recent image from Long Strand near Castlefreke and Owenahincha in County Cork, Ireland.
One of the reasons I love shooting during the winter months is that there is always a real anger and presence in the ocean. The sea can be too placid for me during the summer months. Of course one of the challenges of shooting in rougher sea conditions is fighting with the sea spray that the wind often picks up from the breaking waves. Thankfully keeping the filters clean was only a minor headache on this particular occasion.

First image of 2018 for me taken on New Years Day down at the often photographed location known as the "Beara Bowl". This magical rock formation can be found near the town of Allihies within the Beara Peninsula on the Wild Atlantic Way.

This image was captured at Galley Head which is located along the western coastline of County Cork down the south of Ireland.
7 individual RAW frames were captured (14mm, ƒ/2.8, 15 seconds, ISO 12,800) using a Canon 6D and a Samyang 14mm ƒ/2.8 lens. These frames were then processed in Adobe Lightroom and stacked for alignment and noise reduction purposes using Starry Landscape Stacker.

This image was captured down at Owenahincha Beach which is located on the western coastline of County Cork down the south of Ireland.
Owenahincha always provides decent sea swells and with the slope on the beach it yields great motion in the retreating waves.
