From our hike last Sunday in the Burrator area. Down Tor was our final ascent on that day. The views across the reservoir and surrounding hills is really fabulous - Sheeps Tor, our first destination that day is on the left in the background.
P.S.: that's my wife in the middle walking between the granite outcrops to give you a sense of scale.

Another fascinating Bronze Age monument we visited on Sunday - made up from four concentric stone circles. As an oddity, somebody left a sheep skull on one of the standing stones...

From a wonderful hike last Sunday in the Burrator area. We included two fantastic Bronze Age stone circles in our route. The one in the photo here must be one of the finest on Dartmoor! A large stone circle with a roughly 350 metre long straight stone row leading into the moorland beyond. The people creating this ritualistic site in the Bronze Age even accentuated the drama by increasing the standing stones of the row towards the circle, with the largest granite slab being about 3 metres tall. A fascinating site, glad the sun peeked out for us as well!

I love the mossy old trees lining that road towards a tiny car park, the starting point to visit the Scorhill stone circle.
