Spent two mornings on a pontoon boat a couple weeks ago in Florida where hundreds of Swallowtail kites were roosting in preparation to migrate back to South America. It was so much fun to watch them swoop down and drink from the river as they were preparing to go off to forage. I just posted 4 of my favortie action images from the trip. Had a lot of fun going to shoot these birds with a couple friends down in south Georgia. These birds congregate late July through early August to feed on June bugs and Dragonflies over farm fields. There were close to a 100 kites the day we went, mostly Swallowtail but some Mississippis too. Once they fatten up then off they fly over the Gulf of Mexico to South America for the winter.
