Pinkshell Azalea makes a great perch to pair a warbler with. The beautiful blooms are relatively small for an azalea which helps lessen the chance of obstructed views once the bird is on the perch. They are in bloom early in May at elevation when the warblers are returning to their breeding grounds. There are only a handful of counties where they occur naturally but this azalea is also available commercially and thus occurs sporadically outside of its historic range.

Quite an unusual Spring. Nearly everything bloomed early here in the south and this was one of the last redbuds to be found anywhere.

Today was lots of fun. Have been wanting to get some images with warblers on blooming Dogwood with my current gear and today was a good day for that.

Georgia Mountains. A bit of a twiggy obstruction which usually sends the image to trash but I really like the fall colors and pose so decided to post it. What do you think?
