Prairie Warbler on Snowdrop. Georgia. This was one of the 4 target warbler species for a client and his adult son for a two and a half day custom itinerary. We also tabulated 19 warbler species.

Georgia. This species begins to arrive the first week of April here. In its range it inhabits regenerating scrubby and/or shrubby areas which includes clear-cuts. At this location there are lots of small regenerating pines.
It shares its habitat with Wh1te-eyed V1reos (many arrived), and Chats and Ind1go Bunt1ngs (both arriving soon in numbers!). A little further north in Tennessee it also shares regenerating scrub habitat with B1ue-W1nged Warblers. I heard this species sing the last week of February in scrub habitat in western coastal Florida and I've heard it sing in western Michigan in the scrub habitat associated with the great sand dunes along the shore of Lake Michigan. It is much less common in Michigan.

Prairie Warbler. Tennessee.
For all but one of my WarblerWhisperer photo journeys I've learned locations where I can find redbud perches and most years they are available. The only exception is the southern parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway where the beautiful pinkshell azalea makes a gorgeous substitute.

I just returned from a trip with a friend to 1ndiana to see and shoot Sh0rt-eared 0wls for a few days with an added bonus of a Wh0oping Crane family! It was a lot of fun. We kept our distance from the Wh0opers and we did no owl baiting. I'll probably finish posting a few more redbud images and then share some of that. Looking forward to catching up with your posts.

Prairie Warbler.
4/1/2021 the date of this image was a very cold morning here in Georgia and very few of this species had yet to arrive. In fact this bird wasn't singing at all with temperatures hovering around the lower 30's. Today just 5 days later temperatures are in the 70's and this species has arrived in numbers. From one stationary spot we had 4 singing and there was territorial fighting going on.
It is amazing how fast things change during Spring migration.
