Pigeon Hill. Kennesaw Mt Natl Battlefield. Went scouting again for Fox Sparrows, and came upon a small flock of golden-crowned kinglets, which included 2 males with fabulous crowns. At first I thought I was seeing a pair of male ruby-crowned kinglets, as I saw their brightly colored crowns amongst the shade of a nearby pine. On closer inspection I quickly realized I had a pair of handsome male golden-crowned kinglets. Before today I have never seen such a beautifully full orange crown on this bird, which visits our area in the winter. And yes, I came across 2 fox sparrows again, but was not able to improve upon my recent images of them.

From my Kennesaw Mountain hike today. Took the East-West trail today.
See Ruby-Crowned Kinglet from today as well below in comment box. Both of these beautiful and energetic kinglets spend the winter with us in good numbers and are fun to observe and try to photograph. Come spring they are further north for some of my more northern flickr friends to enjoy.
