After spending time with the Swa11owtai1 K1tes I spent 4 mornings shooting along the west coast of Florida. Whimbrel was one of the species on my target list. I had a great session with this bird watching it forage and even got a crack at a flight shot.

After spending time with the Swa11owtai1 K1tes I spent 4 mornings shooting along the west coast of Florida. Whimbrel was one of the species on my target list. I had a great session with this bird watching it forage along the dry sand near water's edge and even got a crack at a flight shot. I was moving mostly out in the water paralleling the bird trying to keep the light behind me. The bird seemed unconcerned with my presence and soon I was able to anticipate its movements and beach myself far enough ahead of it for some moments to shoot before I would have to venture back into the water before it got too close again.

I had a great session with this bird watching it forage and even got a crack at a flight shot. I actually anticipated this short flight and rose to my feet from my prone position flat on the beach to better position myself to attempt it but I neglected to bump up the ISO (I was in aperture priority). I was fortunate to get this one frame that wasn't so blurred.
