This was my first visit to Beauchamp Falls. There's a long downhill track through beautiful rainforest to get to these falls, which had been closed for repairs for some time. I was glad to see it had opened up again and was accessible. Now the only real impediment is the savage potholes near the turnoff to the falls!
This shoot reminded me of how bloody hard it is to shoot waterfalls. There's the constant spray that coats the lens and also coats the rocks making them incredibly slippery and dangerous; the waving fronds that blur up the image, and the little bits of leaf matter, sticks and debris that beg to be cloned afterwards. Not only that, but out of all the RAW files I'm presented on my computer screen, I find that the green waterfall ones are some of the most flat and listless. I really like my images to look natural, and I felt I had to work a bit harder than usual to get to how I saw it. I shot it with a 105mm circular polariser to help bring out the greens, which made the job that little bit easier.
There are a lot more compositions to be had at this great location, so I can't wait to be back and exploring them further.

The iconic Loch Ard Gorge on the famous Great Ocean Road in Victoria Australia, not far from the "Twelve Apostles". This is only a 3 hour drive from Melbourne - I should shoot here a bit more often!
