While kayaking with the Dovekie on Sunday morning in Provincetown, I had a few brief opportunities with these two birds. It was the first time I've taken anything decent of the females of both species.

It has been a long 4 years of trying to photograph this tiny seabird from my kayak, and it finally came together this morning in Provincetown. A close relative to the puffin, the Dovekie breeds in dense colonies in Greenland and winters along the north Atlantic coast offshore. Every once in awhile one will appear in sheltered marinas along the coast of Massachusetts to feed in the sheltered waters. It was almost 5 years ago when I last saw one in this same spot, and I have been hoping for another to reappear since then so I could launch my kayak and get up close and personal to one. The weather conditions this morning were perfect, and I was lucky that this continuing bird from the past few weeks was still there.

I was lucky to spend another fun morning kayaking with this eagle today in New Hampshire. The light was tough with on and off rain showers, but I was thrilled to finally have an opportunity to photograph one fishing.
