Last month I had the opportunity to travel to Lanzarote for one week. Somehow, also because it was full moon, I hoped I could capture the unearthly volcanic landscape in a peculiar way. But later I realized that even with night shots you depend on what is happening in the firmament, to get an interesting result. Since the weather is changing in March and skies can be entirely clear most of the time, I had to wait and see what would happen. First of all, I want to show you this image just before sunset, at Los Hervideros, a remarkable stretch on the lava-rocky west coast. In the background some volcanic peaks of Tymanfaya National park.

with its intense red lava and Euphorbia balsamifera colonizing the surface. The huge volcanic cone, called "la bomba", is thought to have been deposited by the lava flow in the 1730s eruptions.
