Another slideshow from Tasmania - this time of Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake.

The show looks at some scenery en route to Cradle Mountain and then the simply stunning Dove Lake circuit walk which follows the lake with Cradle Mountain often in the view!

Hope you enjoy another little slice of this quite amazing Australian State - Tasmania.

The images were shot on both a Sony A7RM2 and a Sony compact RX100M3 by myself and Jennette.

A short video slide presentation from a day and two nights spent in the beautiful town of Stanley in the north west of Tasmania - a region that is known as the edge of the world.

Stanley is a truly remarkable town. Not only is it steeped in the early history of Tasmania (for it was from here that the mighty Van Diemen's Land company operated) but it is also a town full of beautifully preserved historic buildings. Not surprisingly it is a classified town. As a bonus it has one of the most remarkable landforms anywhere in Australia: the Nut, the stump of an old volcano, towers over the town.

Stanley was named after Edward Smith-Stanley, known as Lord Stanley who, at the time, was the Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. He later became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom three times. Until 1842 the town was also known as Circular Head, a name it had been given by Matthew Flinders.

The video focusses on the town, the nut and the beautiful historic Highfield House overlooking Stanley itself.

A video slideshow of a selection of images taken over the last 5 weeks while NZ has been in its Level 4 lockdown due to the Covid19 virus.

Most days I was out walking in my local area and all these images are within about 30 minutes walk of my house.
