Saved to photostream due to de-cluttering and getting rid of physical stuff :)

It's been four years since I've done this drawing and all I remember is that it was quite a bit of work and how chuffed I was then that it turned out quite nice. For the assessment task it had to be measured, drawn accurately, and annotated.

I repeated drawing a shell for the assessment task:

Empty fuel drums at Granite Peak Station, Western Australia
I painted this from one of my photos and I am very happy the way it turned out, surprised how many colours can be mixed with Pyrrol Scarlet and Phtalo Blue GS only.

Rust could do with some yellow, but the challenge was Red/Blue only.
It just so happened there was indeed a drum with a yellow top :)

This took me a whole day (raining here and everything feels damp), stretched my patience considerably and, if I had to do this on a trip, I would be stuck and left behind, or would have to simplify and paint loose.

Using plastic-wrap for the leaves and making a mess of it.
I see RED 😀

May try this again some other time ...
Sometimes, things work for me, other times, they turn into a mess. Watercolour is s steep learning curve.

Using plastic-wrap is fun. The process is just a bit slow for my lack of patience. Each leaf needed to be done separately and completely dry (several hours drying time), before the next one could be done.
Also, with so much paint, especially on the green leaf, the plastic-wrap left a sheen. I may also have to study the features and mechanics of a ladybug more closely :)
