I shoot migrants who come to Bandra I shoot migrants who in order to sustain themselves beg and this storyboard is my confessional platform of the people I shot I had no other agenda I wanted their story to be heard.. Celebrity nature walk photographers even the journos with cameras don't shoot the pedestrian stuff I shoot.
I met a migrant he was old wizened man and was helpless begging at the Bazar he had glitter in his eyes of a curious child.
He had seen good times I was sure of that.
I gave him some money and shot a few frames I requested him to tell his story his pain his sufferings.
He was lonely he obliged I shot his video.
I never saw him after that.
Years passed.. Than a few days back I got a call from a young girl she identified herself. She said she was the daughter of the migrant begging in the video.
She was crying she told me it was unfortunate circumstances and the video had gone viral in her hometown please delete it.
I shoot videos but never to hurt anyone I shoot silent videos I let the subject talk exorcise his pain through my video.
I normally don't give my cell phone number to people so I was surprised how she got it.
I did not say anything to her I blocked her aftet the call I did not want to stretch this conversation further.
I don't delete my videos so I removed it from the public domain.
I too am a father of a girl child.
I narrated this to a wise Sufi lady and told her this story.
So shooting pictured videos has a flip side too.. Facts get revealed unearthed..
I love shooting videos of beggars hijras marginalized ethnicity.
I am calm now I did what my heart told me to do I don't shoot to sensationalize poverty or a man's battered dreams.
I shoot as every person I shoot is holy text of life's sufferings.
I don't need fancy camera my cell phone does the needful.
So wish you all a happy Lockdown 5.
