Looking Up.

I haven't done anything with the double exposure app on my camera for ages and I do enjoy it. It goes against the ethos of my lp stuff but it does open up more creative avenues for me to pursue during this lockdown.

Macro eye shot taken in the front room of Riley's big blues, swapped to Samyang 50 1,4 and into the back garden for a vape and some cloud hunting.

Time for some Gin and sit down :)

Happy days.

Thanks to the person who drove in behind the mine with their full beams on providing the backlight. Thanks also to James Mills for plonking his orange light in the mine house for his shot. Lastly thanks to mother nature for the swathe of mist which rolled in right on time to tie everything together.
Great night with Paul from Lace, Phill F and James Mills on a recent camping/ photography/IPA and general good times a few weeks back.
Happy days.

A beautiful patch of woodland very kindly shared with us by James Mills.
Shot last weekend on Sunday morning during some dreamlike conditions.
The mist wasn't quite as thick here as I'd have liked but the moss covered hole in the wall was a beautiful frame to a magical place.
I shall return and give it more of my time.

Evening all. I hope life is good and you're all well.

I'm not long back from a great break over in Crete with the family. Top times.

I took my camera and a rudimentary LP kit but through force of habit rather than much of a desire to do anything. Not sure where my drive to photograph things has gone. Maybe 365 burnout or maybe that I've just got out of the habit due to covid. My knee is a bit knackered at the moment too, so walking very far isn't best. I have an op booked at the end of the month and I have everything crossed it sorts me out.

Anyway, on the last night I decided to hit the beach with the kids. Purely because I didn't want to lug all my gear over there for no reason. Plus the night sky over Kolymvari was absolutely stunning. We hadn't spent any time on the beach during our stay as it was just pebbles but on a brief mooch about I spotted this derelict bunker 2 minutes from the Hotel. On an otherwise baron beach this was the only point of interest and the perfect place to stick an orange light and capture those dark skies. I composed the shot and focused for the stars and got cracking. I googled orange and expanded the image on my phone. Plonked that in the bunker and a phone light propped on a rock out of frame for the side light. I shepherded the kids into position, started the exposure and went behind them with the net curtain, www.lightpaintingbrushes.com orange filter, universal connector and Ryus torch. I wafted the net about for a while as per and finished the exposure.
Cheers to Riley and Olivia for holding almost still and for joining me in the dark.

When I was packing up I felt I could have stayed all night but the free bar was calling. I'm happy I went and hopefully once the nights draw in and my knee recovers I'll be chomping at the bit to get back out again.

Stin Yeia Ma and Happy Days.

One from what seems like an age ago up on Winnats Pass at Dawn. My favourite place to be in the Peaks.
I bagged a beauty minutes earlier, of some light rays beaming into the mouth of the Pass. I packed up happy and started back to the car, then I was struck by the way the foreground framed the tree beautifully and got my gear back out.
A beautiful morning of solitude to reset the old noggin.
Happy days.
