As soon as I arrived in Iceland at the end of September, walking through the tarmac of Reykjavik domestic airport to continue my journey towards the Westfjords, I had to stop to take my first picture. As you can see, we were greeted by a beautiful autumn light that illuminated the famous Lutheran church of the capital, Hallgrímskirkja. Being the largest church in Iceland and with its 74.5m high concrete spire, reminding of basalt columns, it's hard to miss!

View onto the Álftafjörður fjord from the headland of Kambsnes, with the village of Súðavík on the other bank. A typical landscape of the Icelandic Westfjords, where the bilberries take on red tones in the green moss in autumn, on the slopes of these steep mountains between which the fjords enter.

Pair of whooper swans with 4 cygnets in Icelandic fjords. They owe their name to the fact that their modulated singing is louder than that of other species. As soon as the first cold arrives, they will migrate south, with their young that will stay all winter with their parents, the latter will remain in couple all their life.

On the way to the Lónsjökull glacier tongue, in the background, one of the best known of the Drangajökull (the Needle Glacier), the only glacier in Iceland that has not receded in recent years. In the foreground, the cottonweeds are waving on the edge of this pond.
