Plitvice National Park is 140 km from Zagreb and 219 km from Split. It consists of 16 lakes which are interconnected by waterfalls. These waterfalls were created by limestone from the water which was deposited between the lakes, forming a barrier of limestone rock called travertine.
Plitvice Lakes are protected as a national park and are part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful parks in Europe and perhaps the most beautiful park in Croatia.
The site is very touristy. Unfortunately, the weather is often unpredictable and that day, cold, rain and fog spoiled our visit.

The Oslo Opera House is located at the end of the Oslofjord, on the commercial and industrial port of the Bjørvika district, in the eastern part of the city center of Norway's capital. It was inaugurated on April 12, 2008 and the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet is now in residence there. With an area of 77,100 m², a floor space of 15,590 m², it is the largest cultural building built in Norway from Nidaros Cathedral. It also constitutes for this country the strong symbol of a modern nation and expresses the role that Opera and ballet must play in society, through the programming of works from the traditional repertoire and contemporary works. The new opera building on the Bjørvika peninsula was opened in 2008. It immediately became a key Oslo landmark and major tourist attraction. Designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta, it is the first opera house in the world to allow visitors to walk on its roof. The roof of the building, like an iceberg, rises from the surface of the water, giving off a large public square which invites pedestrians, via a wide exterior ramp, to climb up to admire the view of the fjord and the city. While most of the building is clad in white granite and Italian white marble “La Facciata” from Carrara, the stage tower is clad in white aluminum, which, according to the project by Løvaas & Wagle, evokes ancient weaving patterns. In order to give warmth to the interior spaces, in contrast to the white coldness of the exterior, the interior walls are covered in oak.The main auditorium, shaped like a horseshoe, is lit by a chandelier seven-meter oval, composed of 5,800 hand-crafted crystals and 8,000 LEDs. Located in the port of Oslo, the building is intended to be a link, real and symbolic, created in the form of a large wall at the meeting point between land and water, Norway and the world, art and real life.
