Dingri དིང་རི། county

Also known as Tingri. The westernmost parts of Tsang province are traditionally known as Lato, the`highland`region of Tibet; and this vast area is devided into North Lato and South Lato. The county is bordered on the south by the high Himalayan range, including Mount Everest (Tib. Jomo Langma ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ ), Makalu, and Cho Oyu (Tib. Jowo Oyuk ཇོ་བོ་ ཨོ་ ཡུ་). In recent decades, the whole of South Lato, along with neighbouring Tingkye county, has been incorporated into the vast Jomo Langma National Nature Reserve (area 33.819 sq km).
