Disembarking from the Nieuw Amsterdam at the Mediterranean coast city of Cartegena, Spain, this is the scene that greets you. Just a warm, relaxing and beautiful atmosphere. Something about those palm trees.

This is one of the main commercial streets in Cartegena, Spain. Many, but not all of these people are from the cruise ships, and shopping is one of the main activities. However, there are cafes and coffee shops for relaxing and people-watching. Cartegena is a beautiful, clean and friendly city, with stone-paved streets ideal for walking.

With a population of just over 200,000, it's an important seaport with a big naval shipyard. It was founded centuries BC and has a long Roman history.

On April 16, 2011, in the harbour at Cartagena, Spain, two sister ships are docked within metres of each other, bow to bow.
The 86,000 ton MS Nieuw Amsterdam is on her way from Fort Lauderdale to Barcelona and the Mediterranean. The 62,700 ton MS Amsterdam is on a round-the-world cruise. They meet here and exchange greetings, and the crews meet and socialize with each other. Later this day, both leave for the next leg of their journey.

Developed from 1 RAW image; ISO 100, f / 8.
This is most likely the last shot for this Spanish series. A new series starts soon.
