For me, the best time to see Venice is during the tranquil hours around sunrise. The cool summer morning air and the solitude make early morning very special here in Venice. At one point, I was the only person standing in San Marco Piazza which is located about 100 steps behind this vantage point. Just 4 hours later, that same piazza is typically lined with thousands of tourists.
Morning clouds provide splashes of color on this particular Venetian morning.

Mountain and sky seem to blend into one another at this amazing place in the Swiss Alps. The train to the top of the Gornergrat provides easy access to this spectacular panorama. About 90 degrees to the right of this vantage point sits the iconic and majestic Matterhorn (not included in this image).

Zermatt, Switzerland. With less than 72 hours during our stay here, the Matterhorn was quite fickle, hiding in clouds most of the time but on occasion, teasing its waiting onlookers by allowing just partial glimpses of its majesty. Fresh snow adorned its slopes in early June.

The Partnach Gorge, or Partnachklamm, is a "don't miss" attraction on any visit to the Bavarian alpine resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The gorge, which acts as a natural conduit for the Partnach River, runs 700 meters or 2,305 feet between limestone walls that reach 80 meters (262 feet) high. A series of tunnels have been carved out of the rock along one side, allowing visitors to walk along the rushing river and duck behind waterfalls.
