This was my first trip to these wonderful falls in Dunsmuir, CA. Within 15 minutes of arrival, I had managed to smother the inner side of my long-sleeved t-shirt with moss and mud, and the backside of my shorts with mud and water. I often get really low to the ground at places like this, at the expense of looking like a dirty wild mountain man in just a few minutes of shooting.

I had the pleasure of shooting with long time buddy mercury1994 and his friends Gary and Andy. I also had the pleasure of meeting and shooting with James Wang on this crazy day trip in Northern California. It was his guidance that led us to Mossbrae Falls before sunrise. After being the sole visitors here and having Mossbrae Falls all to ourselves for 3, yes 3, hours...it was off to Burney Falls, Manzanita Lake in Lassen Volcanic National Park, then to Redding to catch some lightning strikes over the famed Sundial Bridge that crosses the Sacramento River.

My favorite portion of the overwhelming beauty of these falls is located in the corner opposite the main view points. This corner consists of one of the large branches of the main falls plus many of the wonderful springs that arise directly within the cliff's wall.

Within 3 hrs of landing in Portland, renting a car, and stopping by Multnomah Falls on the Columbia River Gorge, I found myself at water's level, covered in mud and soaked from the rain and mist at Elowah Falls. And it was worth it!

The green at this site was incredible; even the plants have plants! I saw ferns growing through moss clinging to waterlogged branches. Because of the strong flow, this was as far as I dared to take photos as the raging river just to the left of this vantage point was a bit sketchy.

Silver Falls State Park. OR.

I nearly missed my flight home by stopping at this place on the way to the Portland Airport. Yeah I was rushed, barely had time to explore the area, and didn't come away with a more interesting shot. But I've got no regrets in that grabbing even a "postcard" shot from the well-trodden trail was better than not stopping here at all.
