I spent three mornings here with like minded folks, and one herd of bison that got too close for comfort (forcing us tripod-folk to retreat to our cars for 10 minutes as the herd of 50 passed us along Antelope Flats Road). I shot with multiple lenses and liked the compression from this longer lens on this particular clear morning. This is perhaps the most photographed barn in the USA and for good reason, as it owes itself to one of the best backdrops in America.

Yellowstone National Park

A lodgepole-pine ridge serves as the silhouette to this rich sky. This is a 7 vertical-shot panorama stitched using the Canon hardware that came in the box of my 7D. My intentions were to take photos of the elusive wolves and bears near Canyon Junction along the eastern loop of the park system. Hence, I grabbed my "longer gear" which is my 7D + 70-200 f/4L ISM and overlapped a bunch of vertical shots (while the 5DIII stayed back in the cabin).

Perhaps what I enjoyed most about this particular sunset was the fact that I got to take it in with my family on our summer vacation. Typically, I head out with a few buddies or just go solo to do photography, so sharing this dynamic scene with them was better than any trinket found in one of the many souvenir shops in YNP. And I mean MANY shops, as I can attest since my kids and wife visited each and everyone of them!
