This had to be one the craziest sunset skies I've seen around here, or anywhere for that matter. All day long, the clouds were looking promising. You know, one of those days that you keep taking a look outside, hoping that conditions set up to make the golden hour worthwhile. Good fortune was with me as the sky became polychromatic as soon as the sun dipped below the horizon. It turns out these rich clouds were the prelude to a rare September storm in Folsom, CA.

As I began to post-process this one, the more I looked, the more the sky looked like it had been painted using long brush strokes, especially center and left. I could totally see Bob Ross (remember? the big fro'd oil painter on PBS) putting in "happy little trees" atop that knoll.

Three oaks, two fence posts, one click of the shutter.

My intent was to try to catch a glimpse of a mid-March comet after sunset, but low lying clouds to the west put an end to that quest. Instead, just another take at one of my local hangouts.
