Wish it would have stopped raining! Amazing house completed in 1863 on a rocky hillside surrounded by a beautiful forest garden.
So glad that I stopped here for a bimble around even if it didn't stop raining.
Biggest ever excitement was discovering that Cragside IS the FIRST house in the WORLD ( oh yes indeedy ) to be lit using hydro electricity power...the genius Lord Armstrong.Incredible .

A giant wood carving created by award winning wood sculpture Tommy Craggs.
Once.. the mighty Douglas fir stood tall at 170feet in the grounds of Cragside House,Northumberland.
The 140-year-old suffered 'ill health' so instead of being left to rot a mystical creation evolved.
Wish I'd given this pic some scale ..... Douglas is HUGE :-) x
