IN EXPLORE 12 October 2021

During my recent trip to Scotland one of the buildings I visited was The Hunterian Museum. This is in the University of Glasgow which is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world, established in 1451. This is the main Hall of the Museum which originated from a collection by William Hunter who died in 1783. With other collections added there are now 1.5 million items..

The shot was taken Monday 9 July. The shot was taken with a Sony A550 with a Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm. I. took 3 shots for HDR and processed with Photomatix 6.I used the heal tool to remove 2 distracting ceiling lights. I used Topaz Clarity to add more detail. I also used Topaz Denoise

This picture was taken on 25 September in the morning. It is located in Chichester, West Sussex on the south coast of England. It was taken during a workshop on flower photography for Bognor Regis Camera Club by some of the Club’s top flower photographers. The flowers are I think Japanese anemones. It was an ideal day with cloudy skies and very light winds.

The shot was taken with a Sony A77m2 with a Tamron 90mm 1.1 macro. I. took 3 shots for HDR
and processed just one with Capture One Raw and then used Photoshop and Topaz Clarity to add
more detail.

IN EXPLORE 23 September 2021

Another shot from this year’s Open House on 4 September. This was the first non virtual Open House in 2 years and details were only released a month before. This is a shot of the Royal Opera House near Covent Garden taken with a 10mm Wide Angle Lens. The location is the front area of the Opera House. It is the Paul Hamlyn Hall. Unfortunately the main auditorium was closed to the Public for the weekend

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm. I. took 3 shots for HDR and processed with Photomatix 6 using contrast optimiser preset for a natural look. I used Topaz Clarity to add more detail.

Another shot from this year’s Open House on 4 September. This was the first non virtual Open House in 2 years and details were only released a month ago. This is a shot of Willesden Green Library taken with a 10mm Wide Angle Lens. The design is quite striking and is taken looking down from the second floor. During the 30 minutes I was there I didn’t see anybody else for Open House. This might have been because it is a ways out being towards the northern end of the Jubilee Line

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 with a Sigma 10-20mm lens at 10mm. I. took 3 shots for HDR and processed with Photomatix 6 using contrast optimiser preset for a natural look. I used Topaz Clarity to add more detail.

On Saturday I went to London for the first time in 18 months this time for Open House. This was the first non virtual Open House in 2 years and details were only released a month ago. This is a shot of City Hall taken with an 8mm Fisheye Lens. This is likely the last chance as the Greater London Council is moving to the Royal Docks in December for cost reasons. We were not able to descend the ramp as usual. This removes some of the best photo views. The person I asked was not sure why but thought it was due to Covid. Instead we were limited to the Assembly floor and the top outside viewing area

The shot was taken with a Sony A77 with a Samyang 8mm Fisheye lens. I. took 3 shots for HDR and processed with Photomatix 6 using contrast optimiser preset for a natural look. I used Topaz Clarity to add more detail.
