IN EXPLORE 1 JULY 2022

On Saturday 18 May I went to London again for a third viewing of the Elizabeth Line. This time I went on a Saturday and very early. I got the earliest train at 05.05 (yawn) With a 2 hour journey I got started at 7.30 with few people around. I went then to get in before the following weeks Rail Strike. This picture is of the Elizabeth Lines with the escalators to the next level at the Liverpool Street exit at Moorgate.

the Elizabeth Line formerly Crossrail opened in May. Crossrail was the largest engineering project in Europe with 42 Kilometers of new tunnels under Central Lomdon costing 18 billion pounds and 10 new stations

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 handheld. Taken with a Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm. 3 images processed for HDR in Photomatix 6 with realistic preset followed by Topaz Clarity.

This shot was taken (Tuesday) which was very much the start of summer with temperatures up to 28C. I had been looking out on Social Media for this years locations of Poppy Fields. It is probably not well known that to farmers poppies are weeds. They are also fairly random. Poppy seeds will usually lie dormant in a field for many years Whether they flower in a particular year depends on many things including the crop grown and the amount of spraying. For this reason a field of poppies is quite rare and will not grow in the same place as a previous year.

The location was adjoining Ditchling Road just north of Brighton and in the South Downs National Park.

The camera used was a Sony A550 with a Sony 10-20mm lens at 10mm. Taken handheld Main processing was first Camera Raw and then Topaz Clarity for more detail.

On Tuesday 24 May the Elizabeth Line formerly Crossrail opened so of course I was up in London taking pictures.Crossrail was the largest engineering project in Europe with 42 Kilometers of new tunnels under Central Lomdon costing 18 billion pounds and 10 new stations. On this first visit I took in Paddington, Tottenham Court Road, Farringdon and Liverpool Street with the rest to follow later. This is a shot of Farringdon Platform. The station Tunnels and Platforms are large. They are 260 metres long compared to an average of existing underground platforms of 115 metres. Width is double that of older underground platforms

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 handheld. Taken with a Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm. 3 images for HDR at 0.7 difference. Processed with Photomatix 6 using realistic preset. Topaz Clarity used and straighten tool in Phototoshop.
