On Saturday 9 September I went to London again leading a group of 8 of us from Bognor Regis Camera Club. This picture is of the stairs of the Marshall Building LSE situated at the northern edge of the campus opposite Lincoln Inn Fields. It was opened in January 2022. This was the first building we visited. This is where Open House comes into its own where a building normally closed to the Public is thrown open during one or two days during Open House. I would say this was my favourite building of the trip.

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 handheld. Taken with a Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm. One image used edited first in Camera Raw followed by Topaz Clarity.

A shot taken on Thursday 17 August. This was taken a short way west of me along the south coast of England just east of the city of Portsmouth. Sam’s Sunflowers is a farm where they put on a magnificent display of Sunflowers every year and charge £6 for entry including picking up to 5 sunflowers or just entry to take pictures.

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 with a tamron 18-200 at 85mm. 1 image processed with Camera Raw. This was followed by Topaz Clarity.

This is the spiral stairs in the famous Cafe Glockenspiel in Marienplatz, Munich city center in Bavaria, Germany. The stairs lead up to the cafe located in front of the Munich Town Hall, where you can enjoy good drinks and meals while admiring the famous Rathaus Glockenspiel Clock tower. The entry is on the left side of a passageway and these stairs and elevators go up to the Café on the top floor. Peak time requires a reservation but I did not need to go to the café as even when taking pictures from the top looking down stairs next to the café nobody was bothered.

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 handheld with a Sigma 10-20 at 12mm. 3 images for HDR at 0.7 difference. Processed with Photomatix 6 using balanced preset. Also used Topaz Clarity and Topaz DeNoise AI.

IN EXPLORE 17 July 23

Another highlight from the Underground in Munich. I did most of the best on Sunday 21 May and took in 13 stations. I got a licence in advance which allowed me to photograph with a Tripod which is not normally allowed. This was very easy just requiring an email and then sign and scan and send off the signed licence

To get started on stations as early and quiet as possible I started at 5.30am. This one was taken at 6.55am at the end of the U1 Line of the U-Bahn system. This was taken at the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum Station. It is named after a shopping centre above which was named for the construction at the same time of a building for the press at the 1972 Olympics. The Station itself was built in 2004. The shot was taken with a Sony A550 with a Tripod using a Tamron 18-200mm lens at 20mm.. 3 images for HDR at 0.7 difference. Processed with Photomatix 6 using photographic preset. This was followed by Topaz Clarity and increasing brightness a little,

IN EXPLORE 29 June 2023

This is Neuschwanstein Castle, German Schloss Neuschwanstein, elaborate castle near Füssen, Germany, built atop a rock ledge over the Pöllat Gorge in the Bavarian Alps by order of Bavaria’s King Louis II (“Mad King Ludwig”). Construction began in 1868 and was never fully completed. He reigned from 1864 to 1886.

In the early 1880s the king withdrew from society almost completely. Finally, on June 10, 1886, he was declared insane by a panel of doctors. His uncle Prince Luitpold became regent. Removed to Schloss Berg near the Starnberger See by the psychiatrist Bernhard von Gudden, he drowned himself in the lake on June 13.

The castle has been in the news recently because an American Tourist, later arrested attempted to rape 2 American girls and then threw them off a cliff near this viewpoint with one dying and one surviving

The location is on the edge of the Alpes about 2 hours by train from Munich.

The shot was taken with a Sony A550 handheld with a tamron 18-200 at 30mm. 3 images for HDR at 0.7 difference. Processed with Photomatix 6 using balanced preset. Also used Topaz Clarity.
