This was a challenging shot to process, and I’m very pleased with how it turned out with Adobe Lightroom 5.2. The foreground was very dark in the single RAW exposure, and there was a light spot in the middle of the vegetation ground cover from a lens imperfection, due to the bright light from the sunset.
With Lightroom, I was able to use a radial filter to darken the spot and a gradient filter to brighten the foreground. That, plus fiddling with the highlights and shadows exposure settings and the tone curve, produced something that was as compelling as what my eye saw that evening.
