The endless cycle of shifting tides and surging waves break down this section of rugged coastline in Big Sur California.
The last direct sunlight of the evening exposes all the aged cracks and folds of this coastal landscape. Big Sur is a unique place. A place where redwoods grow in the deep folds of steep mountains. Mountains rising above their former pieces. Pieces which are now given over to the sea.

We all have places of worship, celebration, and seeking out inspiration. The California Coast in Big Sur is one of those places for me. And I'm definitely not alone.
As I walked down the shoulder of Highway 1, I met another photographer. I noticed another couple, dressed formally for sight-seeing in Big Sur, parked just in front of his car. Turns out they were soon-to-be-married and he was the-hired-photography-guy. We talked while his clients got really, and made optimistic projections for the evening's sunset. (BTW - his projections were spot on.)
Better yet the soon-to-be-married couple found themselves bathed in golden light in one of California's most inspiring scenes... I'm guessing they are off to a good start:)
