Morning sunlight spills into a river valley located along the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada spotlighting a grove of quaking aspens.
Beyond the the light and fall colors, the mix of trees growing along the edge of valley caught my eye. Mixed in and around the aspen grove appear to be Jeffrey pine trees and a large cottonwood tree.

Late morning fog and light rain sweep over Wizard Island in Crater Lake National Park in Southern Oregon.
For this shot I went with a mid range telephoto lens to capture the pockets of detail created by the cinder cone (named Wizard Island). The harsh landscape would seem unfit to support any life. But this cinder cone supports a healthy forest of pine trees. I also got drawn in by the blue and green tones of the lake's water, especially along the swallow areas of the shoreline.

Anticipating a strike on the MuKlung River. Possibly the word - strike - might be understating the silvers coming up from the saltwater of Bristol Bay.
Correction: Anticipating complete annihilation...
