Two weeks in South Carolina and 15,000 images later - I will be busy for a while!
This was a bird that was on my list - apparently there were a dozen birds at Huntington Park. Apparently I was three days too late, they had moved on.
Hearing a report that they had been located at Santee Coastal Refuge, I took the one hour drive down. Got there before sun-up, and sure enough, just as I got the camera out about 150 birds flew overhead leaving one straggler in the pond.
While this is not a great shot, it was my first image of a Roseate.
Went back the following day, same thing. This time I followed them in the Ram. After a 10 mile hike through the swamp, dodging at least 100 gators, I finally located the main flock. Five hours and 3,500 images later I comfortably crossed Spoonbills off my list.
More images to come...
