Today's exercise: shoot Purple Martins in flight (preferably with bugs). Armed with my Nikon D3S and 600mm lens I spent 15 excruciating minutes trying to track and focus (these flippin birds are fast). After filling up a card full of birds with 1/2 wings and no tails, I opted for my 300/2.4 with a 1.4 teleconverter (I actually had no choice since my arms were becoming numb). The ratio of good pictures increased dramatically. Here are a few.
