Your dream is a house on the lake - think again. Today's storm is sending 30' waves over the break-wall in our back yard (which is 15' above normal lake level). The house is rocking every time the waves hit the wall.

While most of Southern Ontario was hunkered down during todays snow storm, yours truly was laying in a snow bank freezing his butt off. With winds at 60-80km / hrs, and the temperature at -35 with the wind chill, I thought I would post this raw video that demonstrates the conditions. Oh, and should you wish to take a winter workshop in conditions like this, bring a wheelbarrow full of cash....

Two hours of lying in the pouring rain, mud caked to my white camo, water trickling down my butt... paid off with this series. The bird outlasted me - I gave up, went and sat in my hot tub for an hour. The background noise is rain bouncing off my waterproof lens sleeve.

So you think shooting owls is easy ehh - roll right up with your Starbucks café-fricken-latte, stick you point and shoot out the window of your Japanese import, and with Barry Manilow crooning in the background, blast away.

Well friend, think again. Last night, during an ARCTIC-FRICKEN-VORTEX snow storm, the winds at 80km per hours were whipping this cold white crap around, temperatures a frigid -25 degrees... I lost 3 fingers on my left hand and 4 toes due to frost friggin bite. Fortunately I only had a 4 mile walk through waist deep snow to get back to the Wrangler.

Think I'm going to switch to Californian chicks on the boardwalk - enough with the freaking birds...
