Tantallon Castle. A dovecote or dovecot is a structure intended to house pigeons or doves. Dovecotes may be free-standing structures in a variety of shapes. Doves were a delicacy on the medieval dinner tables. The dovecote depicted as explanation here at Tantallon seems more like the one at Dirleton Castle nearby.
