As many of you know, I love capturing wildlife in the grander context of the landscape. To me, it tells a better story than a close-up portrait. For this egret in the cypress swamps, I first caught him as he pulled the fish out of the water. It took several frames before I had an optimal view of both of the fish and the egret's head and I really liked all the water droplets in the air. As it straightened up to eat it, I quickly moved position to get better light behind the egret. Although this shot doesn't show as much action, I ended up liking it the best.
By the way, our dates for next year's Cypress Swamps are now out on the website!
