A cadre of volunteer handlers helps bring Minnesota musher Ryan Anderson and his team of 16 huskies to the start line of the 2017 Iditarod. You can see the power, strength and drive of the dogs as they lean hard into their harnesses while handlers do their best to keep control.

"Charming," an aptly named male dog in Justin Stielstra's team, catching some rays before the start of the 2017 Iditarod.

Justin Stielstra and Laura Neese at 22 and 20 years old are the youngest mushers in the 2017 Iditarod Sled Dog Race.

Laura and Justin stopped by yesterday to borrow our garage to go over their sleds one last time before they hit the 1000 mile trail from Fairbanks today.

Both are running the race for the first time, there are 72 entrants, Laura will leave 7th while Justin takes off over 1.5 hours later in 49th position.

Both Laura and Justin are running dogs from the Michigan kennel (Nature's Kennel) of Ed and Tasha Stielstra.
