A very brief rest stop. Look at the lines - the main gangline coming from the sled is very taught between the back 4 dogs, it shows they are ready to move and leaning into their harnesses. Same with their tuglines (attached to the harnesses). Then the line goes slack behind the leaders, who are relaxed, but focused on something happening off to the right. As soon as I say the word "ready" the leaders will snap-to in a posture similar to the others and await the "let's go" command. These two leaders, Beluga and Sadie work very well for me, it's a joy to be out with them.

Most of my gang. Taking a break here near the end of our 20 mile run. It was great to see some new trails as we traveled down to the outskirts of the little town of Nenana for a social day of mushing and friends. It was a beautiful cool day with temperatures well below zero.
We had quite a caravan both on the road and on the trail. see my friend Miriams blog here

Beluga and Churrie.
I had a most pleasant 20 mile spring run with the sledder's yesterday. The temps were warmish, mid-20s but it was cloudy and breezy so not too bad. Here we are just about 17 miles into the run. Churrie is getting a bit of leader training from Beluga. She's a good little leader but isn't too good at holding the team out when stopped, which is very important. Beluga boy is a master of that. He's so good!
So here we are taking a bit of a break on the trail.

(don't worry Kris, he's coming)
