146-150 College Street (at the corner of St. Paul Street), Burlington, Vermont USA • This sandstone and red pressed-brick corner building was designed by Burlington architect W.R.B. Willcox. The Vermont Historic Sites Survey describes it as follows: Perhaps the only example of high Flemish Revival in Vermont. The larger wall dormers, arcaded fenestration, and complex brick and brownstone wall surfaces recall the Renaissance guild houses of Brussels and Antwerp. The … wall surfaces are deep red "richified" brick, with brownstone used for window surrounds, string coursing street level facades, and other trim.

☞ For some dates & historical details, I am indebted to the Chittenden County Historical Society, and their fine, three volume set: Historic Guide to Burlington Neighborhoods: Vol. I, 1991; Vol. II, 1997;Vol. III, 2003. David J. Blow, author; Lillian Baker Carlisle, Editor; Sarah L. Dopp, photographs.
