Finishing up a great weekend away at the ocean road in the next 24 hours. This apostle is no doubt stronger than my standing up to the waves!

It's sad to think that at some stage in the unpredictable future, erosion will take its toll and this iconic view will be of piles of rubble. For now, we can still enjoy some of the more distant apostles still remaining!

Wreck Beach
Great Ocean Road
Down the 366 steps after a cool little dirt road, lies this isolated beach along the Great Ocean walk. What you see is greatly tide dependent and even in the 1.5 hours I was there the scene changed dramatically to reveal rocks at a lower tide. I liked that the anchor was seemingly pointing to the sun urging me to take the composition lol
Regarding the shipwreck of the Marie Gabrielle , this is what I found from a brochure : In 1869 while carrying tea from China, the Marie Gabrielle ran aground with no casualties.

Great Ocean Road
This shot was taken as 2 frames pre and post moonrise on our last night on the Ocean Road. I had planned to try taking a milky way panorama from down at Gibsons Beach but the milky way stars were straight vertical overhead . I took a frame looking south and north instead. This set is the set looking north toward the northern (and less interesting perhaps) part of the milky way.

Great Ocean Road
This is another take from the 12 apostles on the farthest lookout point. I had set up predawn on the barrier looking out toward the sunrise but as others arrived and leant against the wire railings, I no longer had a stable base to work from and made a snap judgement to take this just beyond the barrier. It's interesting that we don't make much of doing this but so many shots I see have had to have been taken from beyond protective barriers. I guess all I can say is that we ought to look after the environment and ourselves if we do that!
