Lake Bumbunga
South Australia
Over the easter weekend, I had a great time visiting the nearest salt lake to Adelaide (130km north of the city). The lake was pretty dry but a few hundred metres from the shore, I saw some planks lieing there as though they had been there for years. The trails they had made reminded me of those boulders in Death Valley (which I have yet to visit!) - I can't explain how these deepset planks would do this though!

Another from the series of images taken from Bumbunga on Easter Sunday. The flat fissured surface of the dried salt lake made for a great foreground with some scattered objects of interest I found including these rocks (the tail of the monster) and some broken crockery ??

This morning, I took a punt and drove the 130km up to the Lake to see if I could catch some dawn light over the salt lake. After an encounter with the Loch-iel monster (which I will post later), I sat and waited for the dawn to happen. This was a series of 9 vertical shots stitched in CS5. I really wanted the foreground textures to show and perhaps give it a little of the Murray Fredericks look of land and sky only. While I was taking stills with the mk3, the mk2 was firing off a timelapse which eagerly looking forward to compiling in some spare time I don't seem to have much of these days!

December has come round again and as an early Christmas present, I've managed to get another image onto the cover of Australian Photography magazine ;) The small payment will help with replacing the Gitzo tripod which died on me a few weeks ago ( I decided to play it safe and stick with the 2531 mountaineer series)
This one was taken on a scouting mission for a wedding in early october by which time , all of the canola leaves had dropped off! I will know the exact spot to return to next year just north of Clare though!
ps. thanks Adam from the previous thread for pointing this out before I got round to posting this image lol

Another version of the rusted tank I photographed on the sheen of Lake Bumbunga's wet surface. I've been trying a different approach to photographing scenes lately by making sure I take one image with plenty of headroom. I've submitted this one to Aus Photography magazine as well and will just have to wait and see how it goes!
