Thank you to Orvar for taking Marianne and myself out to this location just outside of Reykjavik (and not Keflavik airport where I drove all the way to lol).
Places like this make me wish I could stay here indefinitely!
Panorama of 7 shots taken and if I had been on time for our meeting, we may have even got the clouds streaming over the mountain like a river.

Marianne and I arrived at Heimaey by ferry yesterday but were unable to do anything because of the winds and driving rain. We got soaked searching for puffins in vain! Today however, the skies cleared dramatically for T-shirt weather! I had no idea what hikes to do as we only had 2 days here but we were attracted by the sea stacks north of the island. While Marianne shot the seastacks, I climbed Heimaklettyr (282m) . I have a fear of heights so lugging all of the camera gear didn't help things. Near the top, I figured I wouldn't get a more amphitheatre type view than from this location so I stopped, carefully set things up on this ridge and snapped this panorama with shaking knees. Good thing there was no wind or I would have been clinging for dear life in case of a stumble to either side of the ridge.

As I mentioned in the previous image, the weather cleared remarkably on the second day we were on the island roaming around Heimaey. in the evening, our primary objective was to seek those elusive puffins! We actually found a few which almost distracted me from looking out at sunset. I had planned a sunset shot as much as possible from using the application "photographer's ephemeris" which gave me an idea of where to be on the island in order for the sun t o be setting behind the three distant islands. This image looks heavily manipulated but in actual fact, the only significant things I've done to it are some sun flare removals and the rest is almost SOOC. Had to use 3 reverse and 2 stop hard edge GNDs to control the sky lighting for the effect.

This is the view of the Landmannalaugar mountains standing atop Blahnukur (blue mountain), an easily accessable mountain from where the bus drops tourists off at this magical location in the interior of Iceland. This was the start of our 6 day trip from Landmannalaugar to Thorsmork. The skies were grey, the wind blowing up a storm but how can you resist this!! They Rhyolite coloured mountains and the greenery of low growing vegetation really is striking even in grey conditions.
