Another image from a couple of weeks ago at Salem. It's only 5 minutes off the SE freeway on Callington Road.
The church was lit up by the golden morning light as the morning fog lifted. Early on a saturday morning with no service for the day, it was a very isolated location which reminded me of a little white church from Kill Bill. This image was taken as a 4 shot vertorama and needed alot of perspective correction to get the horizon straight. Unfortunately, during the 4 shots, I thought I had hid myself in the shadows but that sun just rose too quickly!! If I ever decide to send this shot somewhere , I guess I'll clone myself out.

Adelaide Hills

Can't really pinpoint this - it's about 5km from Macclesfield heading toward Echunga in the hills. Yesterday morning did not greet me with blazing dawn - instead there was thick fog cover - I'm not even sure what this field looks like during the day but I thought the background trees looked eerie - I'm not experience doing this kind of shot so any suggestions welcome.

In the fields around Salem, there was a thin layer of mist which cleared very rapidly as the sun began to rise. I can imagine this would look much more mysterious in denser fog. It's a great location for sunrise as even though its in the hills, plains spread all around without much in the way of vegetation.

This coming winter, I'm going to try shifting focus from the coast to the adelaide hills at dawn. As I was driving up past Hahndorf and Nairne in the darkness this morning, there was a lovely layer of fog but sadly this burned off well before sunrise. Coming across this place (lutheran church) was really a chance discovery while looking for some lone trees or windmills to take pictures of.
Image taken with 3 soft GND at F22 to get as much of the church and foreground in depth of field as possible.
Processing :
- Dust spot removal layer
- Colour gradient layer from blue to orange in overlay mode, 35% opacity (with layer mask to give orange only to the orange bits)
- Colour selective layers for the pink flowers, green stems and white bits of the church walls to be enhanced.
- High pass sharpen layer.

Waterfall Gully, SA

A shot taken from 1 month back with the falls in full flow. This angle was from lower down the stream. Its a 3 shot HDR blended with elements of the original images as usual.
