A little post and run effort while uploading billions of wedding photos to the PC - This shot we took on the morning of our second day in the national park figuring that noone goes there first up so we had it all to ourselves! ( a hint for anyone visiting the park wanting to visit this place without hordes of tourists)
3 exposures blended manually - very little photomatix left over.

Shot taken just after dawn this morning in subzero freezing but completely clear morning air. 3 stop hard and soft grad used. Much much more to come from this beautiful location. ps. don't pay 60RMB to view the mountain - walk down the road to get this view lol.

Shudu Lake

Potatso National Park lies some 25km from the town of Shangrila in the province's north. At 3400m, the lake was shrouded in fog around dawn which magically burned offf with the rising sun over an hour.There was a brief period where a stupa was visible through one of these windows in the fog but I missed the opportunity to snap. When clear, the lake as absolutely stunning reflections.

This shot was taken down by the lower lakes on the boardwalk opposite the main road. It was an interesting shot for some wrong reasons. I stopped to sit on a platform with the tripod legs hanging off the boardwalk. No sooner had I set up when every passer by decided to look at the LCD, decided they wanted a snap shot there and then proceded to stand in front of my shot for a happy snap. One person even set up a snap shot right beside my camera, snapped and left .......this happened on many occasions and left me very sour about the etiquette of chinese tourists ....just wow .....
Anyway, it was a beautiful place as I hope you can see.
I took 2 images - with the falls and the leaves in sharp focus - this one is with the leaves in focus.

Alternate view of those very pretty falls along the southern ring road. Spray was very problematic for the camera but thankfully marianne and I were both toasty and dry in full waterproofs. A most remarkable fall in a remarkable country.
The image is a manual blending of two exposures as well as a tonemapped image from photomatix. The blurs are due to splashes of water on the lens!! well, I guess its better than drops. (the little dot of red is marianne in her unmissable bright jacket!)
