Duoyishu Rice Terraces
Yuanyang, Yunan Province China
Yuanyang rice terraces like in the south of Yunnan province , some 7 hours drive from Kunming. From the main city atop the hills, this location is about 30 minutes drive away. At this time of year and for a few months, the terraces at the top of the mountain are filled with water which draws the tourist crowd in .The tour gravy train follows a path back along other rice terraces but we decided to stay here before dawn and wander down after dawn to avoid the crowds. This is the 2nd largest area of rice terraces in the region I'm told

We took this image during an interrupted dinner on our first night on the mountain. The lighting looked pretty boring so we decided to pack the gear away but as we were halfway through eating, we saw this start to happen and left it cold hehe. 3 stop hard and 2 reverse used for most of the pics we took of the sunset and following dawn from this location.
(ps. AJ, thanks for the border suggestion - I had tried that in the past but I just wanted something different for me since I'd never used drop shadows hehe - the plan is to get dad to write calligraphy for all of these places and place that in vertical on top right eventually)

This shot was taken down by the lower lakes on the boardwalk opposite the main road. It was an interesting shot for some wrong reasons. I stopped to sit on a platform with the tripod legs hanging off the boardwalk. No sooner had I set up when every passer by decided to look at the LCD, decided they wanted a snap shot there and then proceded to stand in front of my shot for a happy snap. One person even set up a snap shot right beside my camera, snapped and left .......this happened on many occasions and left me very sour about the etiquette of chinese tourists ....just wow .....
Anyway, it was a beautiful place as I hope you can see.
I took 2 images - with the falls and the leaves in sharp focus - this one is with the leaves in focus.

Another image from our magical two days in Jiuzhaigou national park. This image was taken in the Rize Valley somewhere along the walk below the Panda Falls. An idyllic location that really reminded me of many of the images that jeremy and others from NA have posted of fall. Single exposure, 2 stop soft stop ND for the bright foilage up top.

Dadieshui Waterfall, Yunnan Province, China
This is my last post on the run - this shot was taken at a site 30km from the stone forest near kunming - a very undervisited spot and I don't know why - beautiful layered 40m waterfall and surrounds.
Single shot with 3stop hard grad diagonally across image.
